Description
This temporary position is for approximately 11 months.
Reporting to the Director of Community Relations, Edmonton Transit, the Market Planner is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating transit promotional and program initiatives to specific markets identified in the Branch's business and strategic marketing plans. This includes innovative marketing and communication strategies such as community outreach, special event coordination (e.g. parades, historic transit tours, Stuff-a-Bus), new service implementation, workplace commuter programs, school programs, seniors programs, and Bikes on Buses/LRT. Responsibilities include:
Conducting assessments of transit target markets and goals using tactics such as community outreach, market research, etc.
Researching marketing and promotional initiatives to assess for application to Edmonton Transit; Recommend key messages, in consultation with internal stakeholders, to manage Edmonton Transit’s image and perceptions within the community and organization;
Identifying and negotiating potential sources of funding for transit promotions such as sponsorships, partnerships, granting agencies, and prepare proposals as required;
Preparing program materials required to implement approved transit promotion initiatives;
Implementing promotions and programs, and evaluating their effectiveness;
Managing external contractors, consultants or temporary employee support as required; and
Developing positive relationships with key groups or individuals within City departments and target markets.
Qualifications
Graduation from University in either Commerce, Business Administration, Community Development, or related program with major course work in marketing or integrated marketing communications.
A minimum of 2 years marketing experience.
Extensive knowledge of marketing, program planning and relationship building is required.
Demonstrated well developed research and facilitation skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead and work in multi-disciplinary teams.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, in research, analytical techniques, interpret statistical data and evaluations, issue identification, and promotional/program development.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Extensive knowledge of community organizations and ability to link into existing networks within communities to promote transit.
Proficient in use of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Knowledge and experience in public transit an asset.
HOURS OF WORK:
33.75 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.
SALARY RANGE:
21M, Salary Grade: 022, $28.702 - $35.861 (Hourly), $1,937.39 - $2,420.62 (Bi-Weekly). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
