Description
As one of the Coordinators reporting to the Senior Safety Codes Officer you will function as the main filtering point for complaints on derelict housing/buildings for the City of Edmonton. Responsibilities include:
Compose correspondence on derelict properties to other City staff/Departments, owners, agencies, the general public, City Councilors and other elected officials;
Respond to telephone complaints and inquiries on derelict properties by recording information and making referrals to appropriate department/agency as required;
Effective research, compilation and delivery of sensitive documents required in legal and quasi-judicial hearings;
Co-ordinate with external agencies to support action taken on derelict housing;
Gather statistical information and maintain database records;
Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade, including business subjects with emphasis on general office practices, OR completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college and a minimum of three (3) year's progressively responsible experience in the area of housing or construction and the Safety Codes Act.
Ability to establish priorities and to handle several tasks simultaneously.
Strong written, verbal, listening and conflict resolution skills.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience with POSSE considered an asset.
Excellent customer service and problem solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Knowledge of Safety Codes Act and The Municipal Government Act.
Note: The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Security Clearance from Edmonton Police Services.
HOURS OF WORK: 33.75 hours per week, Monday — Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.

SALARY RANGE: 21M, Salary Grade: 012, $19.97 - $25.04 (Hourly), $1,347.91 - $1,690.13 (Bi-Weekly), $35,180.39 - $44,112.46. The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
